Shakti Engineering Works

Shakti Engineering Works is tucked away in Gali No. 3 of Ravi Nagar Extension. If you know Khayala, you know how these narrow streets can be. It’s always a bit of a squeeze getting materials in and out of the alley. The workshop itself is full of metal scraps and the smell of oil. We’ve got some big machines that have been with us for a long time. They make a lot of noise, so we usually have to shout to hear each other. It’s not the kind of place you’d wear a suit to. My hands are usually stained with grease by ten in the morning. We do a lot of small jobs for people in the area and some bigger stuff too. The floor is concrete and always has some metal shavings on it. We sweep up at the end of the day, but by morning it’s the same again. It gets hot in there during June, but we just keep the big door open and hope for a breeze. There’s a guy who brings tea around twice a day, and that’s when we usually take a break and sit on the stools. We don’t have a fancy waiting room or anything like that. If you come by, you’ll probably find me standing over a lathe or checking a measurement. It’s just honest shop work. We’ve been in this spot for years and everyone around here knows us.
