The Standard Paneer Shop

Our shop is out in Janakpuri at number 40064. It’s a pretty simple setup because we mostly focus on paneer and a few other fresh dairy items. The shop stays quite cool because of the refrigeration units, which is a real relief when it’s baking hot outside. We spend a lot of our time cleaning because dealing with milk means you have to keep everything scrubbed down all day. You can usually smell the fresh curd before you even reach the door. Supply arrives very early in the morning, and that’s when we’re busiest, getting everything weighed and packed for the local customers. It’s not a big fancy supermarket; it’s just a local shop where you can get what you need for your dinner. We keep a few big blocks of paneer on the main counter and we cut them to size as people ask for them. Sometimes we run out of stock before the day is over, especially if there’s a big festival or a wedding happening nearby. The neighbors all know us by now and stop in for a quick chat. We don’t have a website or do any of that modern marketing; the sign above the door does the job. The floor is often a bit wet from the water we use for cleaning, so everyone has to be careful when walking around. It’s just a small family-run place doing its best to stay busy.
