Our shop is tucked away in Nangloi, specifically in C Block of Amar Colony. It’s Plot No. 102/12, right in the mix of Kamruddin Nagar. If you are coming from the main road, you look for Sonia Hospital and we are fairly close to that landmark. It’s a busy neighborhood with a lot of people moving around and small businesses everywhere. Sharma Eng. Works has been operating out of this space for a while. It’s not a huge factory, just a practical workshop where we handle metal and engineering tasks. Most days, you’ll hear the sound of lathes running or the clinking of metal tools. We started small and stayed that way because it’s easier to manage things directly. The floor is usually covered in some shavings and there is always a bit of oil around, but that’s expected in an engineering place. We don’t have a big office staff. It’s mostly just us doing the actual work on the floor. When someone comes in with a broken part or a plan for something new, we just sit down and look at it together. The traffic in Nangloi can be a bit much sometimes, especially in the evenings, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We keep our doors open and just get on with whatever needs doing. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. There is usually some chai being shared around four o'clock.
