Rajinder Engineering Works

We are located at C 2 in Khazan Basti, which is part of Mayapuri Phase I. It’s a rough and ready kind of place, exactly what you expect in an industrial area. We do metal work and general engineering tasks for whoever needs them. The shop is full of old lathes and welding equipment that have seen a lot of use. There is always a smell of burnt metal and the sound of grinding going on throughout the day. I started this place a long time ago with just one machine and a lot of hope. Now we have a few more, but it’s still a small operation with just a couple of us. My clothes are always stained with grease, and there’s metal shavings on the floor that we sweep up every evening before we lock up. We take on jobs from other factories or individuals who need something specific made out of iron or steel. It’s not quiet or clean, but it’s what we do and we know the work well. The alley outside is narrow and often blocked by tempos loading or unloading stuff. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room. You just walk into the workshop and find me near the back. Sometimes we're so busy we can't talk much, and other times we have a bit of a lull. We just focus on getting the measurements right. It’s a long day but we stay until the last job is done.
