Pride Ice Cream Factory

Our business is based in Shivaji Market, specifically at shops 56 and 57 in the Tagore Garden Extension. We have a bit of a dual setup here because we make the ice cream on-site and also sell it directly to people who walk in. The front part of the shop is where the counters are, and the back is filled with the mixing machines and cold storage. It is always a bit noisy because of the compressors running. We supply quite a few of the smaller vendors around the market too. Tagore Garden is a lively area, and being near the Central School means we get a lot of students dropping by in the afternoons. We started out small with just one machine, but we took over the shop next door to give us more room to breathe. It’s still not huge, but it works for us. We don't use any fancy labels or expensive packaging. We just put the ice cream in simple tubs or cones. My brother manages the production side of things while I handle the customers. We have a few helpers who have been with us for years. We aren't trying to be the biggest factory in the city, we just want to make sure the quality is consistent for the people who buy from us every day. It's a lot of manual work and we stay pretty tired, but it is a good business to be in.
