Nakoda Beej Bhandar

Nakoda Beej Bhandar is located at Plot No.87 in the Nawada Industrial Area of Uttam Nagar. It is a big, open space because we need the room for all the sacks of seeds we keep in stock. Depending on the time of year, the place smells like different things—sometimes it’s a bit earthy, other times it’s more like dried grass. We get a lot of farmers coming in from the outskirts of Uttam Nagar. They usually show up early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. They like to sit for a bit and talk about the rain and how the soil is looking this year. We have some heavy scales near the entrance that we use to weigh everything out. The floor is often covered in a fine layer of grain dust, so we have to sweep it out at the end of every day. Plot No. 87 isn't the most modern building, and the roof is made of corrugated sheets that make a loud drumming sound when it rains. It gets pretty loud in here during a storm, but it’s a sound we’ve grown to like over the years. We keep a simple ledger to track what goes in and out. There isn't any fancy software or high-tech systems here. We just know our stock and we know the people who come to buy from us. It’s a steady kind of life that follows the rhythm of the planting seasons, and that’s plenty for us.
