Mata Engineering Sprocket

Our place is G.I.-113 in Phase 2 of the Mayapuri Industrial Area. If you’ve been to Mayapuri, you know it’s a lot of metal, grease, and noise. Mata Engineering Sprocket fits right in with the rest of the workshops here. We spend our time working with heavy parts and the floor is usually covered in metal shavings. It’s a gritty kind of job. We don’t have an office with air conditioning. We just have the workshop and a small desk in the corner for paperwork. The machines we use are old but they still work fine for what we do. We’ve got a small crew of guys who have been doing this for years. We eat our lunch together in the back when we get a break. The sounds of hammers and grinding are just part of the background for us. People come by when they need something specific made or fixed. We don’t do a lot of talking unless it’s about the work. It gets very dusty in the dry season, so we’re always wiping down the benches and our tools. Mayapuri is a tough place to work, but we’ve been here long enough that it feels like home. We don’t try to make the shop look like something it isn't. It’s just a place where we work with metal every day and try to keep things moving. There is always a pile of scrap in the corner and a new job waiting on the bench when we arrive in the morning.
