M K Engineering Works

M K Engineering Works is located at C 62 in Mayapuri Industrial Area Phase II. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while now. The work we do involves a lot of metal, welding, and machining. It’s noisy and there are sparks flying sometimes, but that’s an engineering shop for you. We don't have any fancy air conditioning in the main work area, just some big fans that move the air around. It gets hot, but we manage. We aren't a big company with a HR department or anything like that. It’s just a group of us who know how to handle tools and fix things. Customers bring us parts that are broken or they need something specific made from steel or iron. We look at the drawings, or sometimes just a rough sketch, and get to work. The floor is usually a bit greasy. We have a small desk where the ledger stays and where we take calls. Most of the day is spent on our feet. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just build and repair things. It’s a practical life. Sometimes the work is slow, other times we are staying late to finish a big project. That’s just how the engineering business goes in an area like Mayapuri. We’ve been here long enough to know all the neighboring shop owners too. It's a busy life but it's what we do.
