Jains Pickle Palace

You can find Jains Pickle Palace in the Jawala Heri Market in Paschim Vihar, at WZ 5/10 B. If you like pickles, this is where we keep all the jars. The market is always crowded, especially in the evenings, and our shop is no different. It’s a small space, and every inch is filled with containers of mango, lime, chili, and all sorts of other pickles. The smell of spices and oil is very strong the moment you step inside. We don't use any fancy machines; a lot of what we have is still made in the traditional way, which is why the jars all look a bit different. It’s a busy life here in Paschim Vihar. We spend our time talking to customers, letting them taste a little bit of this or that, and filling up bags for them to take home. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. People just know us because we’ve been in the same spot for years and they like the taste. The floor can get a little sticky from the sugar syrup, and we are always wiping down the counters. It’s a simple, honest business. We deal with farmers for the vegetables and spices, and then we do the rest right here. It’s loud, it’s cramped, but it’s our place and we like it that way.
