Girdhar Flour Mills

Our flour mill is located at Shop Number 15 in the DDA Market. It is the C-4 E market in Janakpuri. When you walk past, you can usually hear the hum of the grinding machines. The shop is small and there is always a bit of white flour dust in the air and on the floor. We spend our days grinding wheat and other grains for the people who live nearby. They bring their own grain in bags and wait while we process it for them. It’s a loud place, so we have to speak up to be heard over the noise of the motors. We have been in this market for many years and we know almost everyone who comes in. Some people like their flour very fine and others want it a bit more coarse for their rotis. We try to remember what each person prefers. It is a simple life and the work is the same every day. We open up in the morning and stay until the market starts to quiet down at night. The weekends are the busiest when everyone has time to do their shopping. We don't have any fancy branding or expensive machines. Just the same old reliable ones we've used for a long time. It’s a good feeling to be a part of the daily life of the neighborhood and help people get fresh flour.
