D S Grand Banquet Hall

In the middle of the Patel Market in Rajouri Garden, things are always moving. D S Grand Banquet Hall is tucked in right opposite the HDFC Bank. It’s a busy spot in Delhi, so there is always noise from the street. We spend most of our time getting the hall ready for whatever is happening next. One day it might be a small birthday and the next it’s a big family gathering. There is a lot of moving chairs and tables around, which is heavy work. We have to check the lights and make sure the air conditioning is actually cooling the place down before people arrive. It gets hot in J 13/18, so that’s a big priority. The floors need a lot of scrubbing after a party is over because people spill things and track in dirt from the market. We don't have a fancy marketing team; we just answer the phone and show people the space when they walk in. It’s a straightforward business. We coordinate with the decorators and the catering people who come in and out. Sometimes the traffic outside makes it hard for guests to park, which is just part of being in Rajouri Garden. We try to keep things organized, but when you have a hundred people in one room, it’s always a bit chaotic. That’s just the nature of the work we do here every day.
