We’ve got our office on the second floor of the Vishwa Sadan Building, right in the Janakpuri District Centre. If you’ve ever been to the G. block area, you know how hectic it can be with all the offices and people rushing around. Banaras Beads India Ltd. is where we handle all the logistics and orders for the beads. The space is filled with samples of all kinds of shapes and colors. Sometimes it feels like there are boxes in every corner, waiting to be sent out or just arrived from the factory. We spend a lot of time on the computers and the phones, making sure everything is moving like it should. It’s not a showroom where you’d come for a fancy experience; it’s a working office. The windows look out over the district centre, so we see the crowds below all day long. It gets pretty loud during lunch hours when everyone comes out to eat. We usually just have our lunch at the desks while we keep working. The building itself is quite old and has that specific smell of paper and stone. We’ve been here long enough that the security guards know us by name. It’s a functional place where we focus on getting the beads out to where they need to go. There’s always someone sorting through a pile of glass or wood pieces at the big table.
