Soileco Natural Farming Llp

Up in Pulpally, at the Kavalaamarakuni post, you’ll find us working on our natural farming projects. We are pretty deep into the rural side of things here, which is exactly where we want to be. The whole idea behind Soileco was to get back to the basics of how things used to be grown before everything got so complicated. We don't use any of the heavy stuff on our land; it’s all natural methods that we’ve picked up or learned from the older folks in the village. Our office is just a simple room where we keep our logs and seeds. Most of our time is spent outdoors anyway, checking the soil and seeing how the plants are doing. It’s a slow process, natural farming, and you can’t really rush it. Some days are frustrating when a crop doesn't take, but that's just part of the deal. We stick to looking after the dirt so it looks after us. There’s a small group of us here who handle the day-to-day chores. We aren't trying to be the biggest farm in Kerala, just the one that does things the right way for the environment. If you’re ever near Pulpally, the air is clean and the ground is rich. We’re just happy to be a part of this landscape and to keep the old ways of farming alive as much as we can. It takes a lot of patience to watch things grow without help from chemicals.
