Living and working in Wayanad is something else, especially up here in Madakkimala. We are based out of Raja House, which is a place many locals recognize. Our farm isn't some high-tech facility; it is just land and hard work. Being at No.Mp11/331A means we are right in the middle of the greenery that this district is famous for. Most days are spent checking on the plants or dealing with whatever the weather decides to throw at us. Wayanad can be unpredictable with the mist and the rain. We don't have a bunch of people in ties making decisions. It is mostly just a few of us who know the soil well. We keep things pretty simple. There is always a fence to mend or some weeding that was forgotten the day before. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we absolutely have to for the registrations. The house is usually full of the smell of whatever we are growing and maybe some fresh coffee. It is a quiet life for the most part, away from the big city noise. We just want to grow things and keep the farm in good shape for the next year. It is a lot of sweat and sometimes a few sore backs by the end of the week. That is just how it goes when you work with your hands at Muranikkara Farms. We wouldn't want to be anywhere else really, even when the work gets tough.
