Bhagyalakshmi Tailors

Started working out of the house here in Kommulavancha some years ago. It’s a small space at H. No:-C-82 but it works for what we do. Usually, the day starts early with the sound of the sewing machine. We handle a lot of local orders from people around Narsimhulapeta. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and wait. My hands are always covered in thread bits. It is not a fancy shop with glass windows. Just a table, some stools, and the machine. Warangal gets quite hot in the summers, so we try to get the heavy stitching done before noon. People drop by with their cloth pieces and we talk about the measurements. I keep a diary to note everything down so I don’t forget. Some days are very busy, especially when there is a wedding nearby or a festival coming up. The walls are a bit faded now and need a new coat of paint. There is a small tree outside that gives some shade in the afternoons. We have been in this spot for a while and everyone knows where to find us. It’s just honest work, cutting and joining pieces of fabric together. Nothing more to it than that. Sometimes the needles break or the thread tangles up, and that’s just how it goes. We stay open until the sun goes down and then we lock up the door.
