Durgamma Ladies Tailor

I run my tailoring shop from my home at 2-55 in Vemnoor, Mahabubabad. It’s just a small room filled with my sewing machine, different colored threads, and piles of fabric waiting to be cut. I’ve been stitching clothes for the women in this village for a long time. It’s mostly blouses, dresses, and sometimes school uniforms. I don't have any helpers, so everything you see is done by my own hands. Some days the work is a lot, especially when there is a wedding coming up or it’s a festival. Then the room gets really crowded with people coming in for trials and picking up their orders. I try to keep everything organized but sometimes it gets a bit messy with all the scraps of cloth on the floor. I didn't learn this in a school; my mother taught me when I was young. It’s a quiet life, just the sound of the machine humming all day. I like talking to the ladies who come in; we share the local news while I take their measurements. It’s not a big business with a name in lights, just me working in Vemnoor. I don’t do any advertising because everyone knows where I am. I just focus on making sure the clothes fit right and look decent. It’s hard work on the eyes and the back, but I’ve always liked doing it. Being right here in Mahabubabad means I can stay close to my family.
