Sri Ram Engineering

Our workshop for Sri Ram Engineering is located over in F Block of Laxminagar, right here in the Gopalatnam area of Visakhapatnam. It is a noisy place most of the time because we have several machines running from eight in the morning until late in the evening. The floor is made of solid concrete and has plenty of scratches and stains from moving heavy metal parts around. We don't have a big fancy office with air conditioning. There is just a small wooden desk where we keep the ledger and take phone calls from people needing repairs or custom parts. Most of the guys working here have been with us for years and they know the sound of a lathe that isn't working right just by listening. We drink tea twice a day, usually brought in from the stall down the street, and that’s when we talk about the jobs for the day. Sometimes a customer brings in a drawing on a piece of scrap paper and we have to figure out how to make it work. It’s a lot of trial and error but we usually get it right in the end. The salt air from being in Vizag can be tough on the equipment, so we spend a lot of time cleaning and oiling everything to keep the rust away. It’s just honest engineering work without any of the big corporate nonsense you see in the city center.
