Real Deepak Punjabi Dhaba

We have been sitting here at Tirumala Arcade in Asilmetta for quite some time now. If you know Visakhapatnam, you know how busy this spot gets, especially with everyone coming and going near the Meghalaya Hotel right across from us. It gets noisy outside with the traffic, but inside we are usually just focused on getting the food out to the tables. It is a simple place, honestly. We don’t have fancy chairs or those bright lights that hurt your eyes. It is just a dhaba where we cook what we know. My cousin usually handles the front while I stay back to check on things in the kitchen. Sometimes the morning starts a bit slow, but once the office crowd starts moving, we hardly have time to look up. It is mostly regular people who stop by because they are tired of eating the same things at home. We try to keep things clean, though it’s a struggle with all the dust from the road outside. You will see us early in the morning prepping the vegetables while the tea is boiling on the side. The parking around the arcade is always a bit of a headache, so most people just pull up on their bikes and run in quickly. It’s not a big corporate setup or anything like that. Just a small spot where you can sit down for a bit and get on with your day. We’ve seen the neighborhood change, but we’re still here.
