P. Gurusamy & Sons

P. Gurusamy & Sons is over on Sivakamipuram Street in the Kamaraj area. It is a family thing, so you will often see a few of us around the shop at the same time. The building number is 631, which we share with some other activity, so it stays quite busy around here. We usually have the doors open by eight in the morning. Kamaraj gets quite hot during the middle of the day, so we try to do the heavy lifting early. There are always boxes to move or lists to check. We are not big on fancy decorations or anything like that. The floor is concrete and the shelves are sturdy wood. People come in asking for all sorts of things, and we do what we can to help them out. It is a bit noisy with the traffic on the street, but you get used to it after a few years. Sometimes we sit out front in the evening when the air cools down a bit. It is a regular life, really. We handle the paperwork on an old desk in the corner. My sons and I have worked out a system that works for us. We don't change things much unless we have to. Most of our regulars have been coming here for a long time. It feels like a community on this street, even when things are hectic.
