Srilakshmi School

If you walk down Shantha Kaliyamman Kovil Street in Lakshminarayanapuram, you will find our school. We are right there in Panruti, which is famous for its jackfruit, as everyone knows. Our school isn't very large, but we have been here for years. It is a local place for local kids. The street outside can get a bit crowded when there are festivals at the temple nearby. We have the usual classrooms with wooden benches and old-fashioned blackboards. The teachers are mostly people from the town who have been teaching here for a long time. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just teach the children their lessons and make sure they follow the rules. Sometimes the monsoon rains make the street a bit messy, but the children still show up with their umbrellas. We have a small area for them to play during the lunch hour. You can hear the sounds of the town all day, the temple bells and the traffic from the main road. We keep things simple and honest here. There are no big corporate logos or anything. It is just a school where we try to do a decent job with the resources we have. Most of the families in Lakshminarayanapuram know us well, and we have seen many generations of the same family come through our doors over the years.
