Jayam Matriculation School

Jayam Matriculation School is based in Sankarapuram, which is in the Villupuram area. We have been running this school for the local community for quite a few years now. The building has several classrooms and a small office space. We have students coming from different parts of Sankarapuram. The morning starts with everyone gathering for the assembly. We have a small concrete area for that. The classrooms have the usual benches and desks for the kids to sit. Teachers have their own chairs and a table at the front. We have some cupboards for storing the books and other school supplies. Villupuram weather can be a bit dusty, so we have to sweep the floors every day. We follow the matriculation system and the teachers go through the textbooks page by page. During the lunch break, the school gets very noisy with all the children talking and eating. We have a small staff room where teachers can sit for a few minutes. It’s not a very large school, but it’s where the neighborhood kids go. Most people around here know us by name. We don't have a lot of modern gadgets. It is just a place with blackboards, chalk, and books. We keep things simple and focus on the daily classes. The school gate is painted blue and we close it once the lessons begin. We also have a small patch of grass that we try to keep green during the rainy season.
