Dealing with fertilizers and chemicals here at Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd on Rtc. Road is basically our life. We are at Door Number 24-47, and if you live around here, you’ve probably walked past us a hundred times. It’s not the kind of place where people wear suits; we’re mostly in our work clothes because moving fertilizer bags around is messy work. The dust gets on everything, especially when the wind picks up on the road. Farmers and local distributors are our main visitors. They come in looking for specific things for their crops, and we do our best to help them find what they need from our stock. It’s a lot of paperwork sometimes, but mostly it’s just about managing the inventory and making sure the supplies don’t sit for too long in the heat. The office is a bit old-fashioned, but it does the job. We have a rhythm to the day that follows the seasons—sometimes it’s quiet, and other times we can barely keep up with the people coming in. We don't really do big advertisements or anything. We just stay open, keep the shelves filled, and talk to whoever walks through the door. It’s a practical environment. Some of us have been working here for years, so we know most of the regulars by name. It’s just a regular part of the neighborhood, sitting right there on the road, doing what we’ve always done for the community.
