Phoenix School

You will find Phoenix School out on Bagalakot Road in the Bijapur Ho area. Bijapur is known for its history, but out here on the road, it is more about the daily commute and the dusty Karnataka heat. The school is a familiar sight for anyone traveling along that stretch of Bagalakot Road. We have a good-sized building, and every morning you can see the yellow school buses pulling in. It is a busy place from the moment the sun comes up. The kids come from different parts of the city and even some of the nearby villages. It gets pretty loud during the breaks when everyone is out in the yard, but the rest of the time it’s just the sound of teachers talking and pens scratching on paper. We have the usual classrooms with wooden desks that have seen a lot of students over the years. It is a very straightforward school. We don't have any of those modern glass walls or high-tech campuses you see in the big cities. It is just a solid building where kids come to learn their subjects. The staff has been here for a long time, and we all know the routine by heart now. We deal with the power cuts and the heat just like everyone else in Bijapur does. It is just a normal, hardworking school trying to do a decent job for the families around here. We just keep things moving and focus on the day’s work.
