Shiva Hair Dresser is located on NH56 in Shivpur, Varanasi. We are right opposite the wine shop. It's a very easy landmark to give people who are coming for the first time. Being on the national highway means there is always traffic—trucks, bikes, and rickshaws going towards the main city. It’s a bit dusty and loud outside, but that’s just how it is in this part of Varanasi. The shop is small and humble. We have the wooden cabinets for our combs and scissors and a couple of old-fashioned chairs. It’s a place for men to come and get a quick trim or a shave. We don't have air conditioning, just a big ceiling fan that works hard all day. The walls are decorated with whatever we found interesting over the years. We see a lot of travelers passing through, as well as the locals from Shivpur who have been coming here since they were boys. The atmosphere is very casual. We talk about the local news or the cricket scores while we work. It's a simple life. We open early because the highway gets busy early. There's no fancy menu of services. You come in, tell us what you want, and we do it. It’s an honest way to make a living for us. Shiva Hair Dresser is just a small part of the long road, serving the people who pass by or live around here.
