The shop is right here in Bharati Plaza on the ground floor. If you know Lanka Assi Road, we are quite easy to find since we are close to Ravidas Gate. It is a space just for women and girls. We do hair cutting and different beauty things every day. It gets quite busy in the afternoons when students from the university come by. Most of the time it is just us working through the list of people waiting. Some want a simple hair wash while others are here for threading or something for a wedding. The floor stays covered in hair most of the morning until we get a chance to sweep. We have been in this part of Varanasi for a while now. The noise from the road comes inside sometimes but it is mostly okay. We keep the chairs ready and the mirrors clean. It’s a basic setup but it works for what people need. People stop in while they are out shopping in Lanka. It is a local place, nothing too fancy. Sometimes the tea man comes by and we take a quick break. We handle a lot of regular faces from the neighborhood. It is just a normal day of work here at the studio. Most ladies prefer coming here because it is a female-only environment and they feel comfortable. We just do our jobs and go home at the end of the day.
