Roshan Hair Cutting Salloon

Roshan Hair Cutting Salloon has been on the Jansa Rameshwar Road for quite a while now. We are located near the Jansa Chauraha, which is a place where every road seems to meet in this part of Varanasi. If you stand outside the shop, you can see the cows walking by and the rickshaws weaving through the traffic. It is a very lively spot. Inside, the shop is small and we have to be careful not to bump into each other when we are working. We have a few mirrors and the usual jars of combs soaking in water. People come in from the nearby villages and the local neighborhood too. It is a place where you hear all the local news. Someone will come in for a haircut and spend forty minutes just talking about the crops or the local politics. I usually just listen and keep the scissors moving. The floor is usually covered in hair until the end of the shift because there isn't always time to sweep between every person. It gets dusty because of the road right outside, so I am always wiping down the counters. It is a simple business. We don't have air conditioning, just the breeze from the door and a small fan that wobbles a bit. That is just the way it is here in Varanasi, and nobody seems to mind it much.
