Rice Trading Co.

We are located in Mureganj Bazar, which is always a bit of a chaotic place to be. Rice Trading Co. has been operating out of this small storefront for years. It’s not a big corporate office with air conditioning; it’s just a room with some heavy wooden benches and samples of grain in glass jars on the shelves. You can hear the shouting of the other vendors and the honking of rickshaws all day long. We spend most of our time talking to people who come by to check the current rates or to see what we have in stock. My father started this trading business and now I handle the daily bits. We still use the old ledgers because they never crash like a computer might. The walls are covered in calendars from previous years that we never bothered to take down. It feels comfortable to us. We don't go around saying we are the best or anything like that. We just try to be fair and keep our word. If a deal is made, we stick to it. Sometimes the market is tough and we have to work harder to find the right buyers, but that’s just how trading goes. We have a small back room where we keep some of the high-quality samples. It’s dusty and the light is a bit dim, but it’s where the real work happens. We drink way too much tea during the day.
