Paradise Mens Parlour

If you’re walking down Mahmoorganj Road in Sigra, you’ll find us near the Santoor Hotel. It’s a busy spot in Varanasi. We’ve been running Paradise Mens Parlour for a while now. The chairs are old but they are still comfortable to sit in while getting a trim. We keep the magazines on the table even if nobody reads them anymore because everyone is on their phones. The morning starts with sweeping the floor and getting the towels ready. We get a lot of regulars who live in the narrow lanes nearby. They usually want the same thing every month. Sometimes the shop gets a bit hot in the summer because the old fan struggles, but we try to keep it cool. We have a small TV in the corner that usually shows cricket or the news. My brother helps me with the shaving part. We talk about local things, like the traffic or the weather. It’s not a fancy place with expensive stuff. We just use what works. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast, so we are always cleaning. It’s a bit noisy because of the traffic outside on the main road. But once you’re in the chair, it’s alright. People know us here. We aren't trying to be anything other than a neighborhood shop. We close up when it gets dark and the street lights come on. It’s been a good journey so far.
