Gmam Inter College

If you travel down Sonadih Road in Belthara, you will find our gate. It’s a plain spot in this part of Uttar Pradesh. The college has been sitting here for a long time now. We see the same faces every day. The students come in wearing their uniforms, some looking sleepy and others ready to talk. Our building isn't anything special to look at, just concrete and bricks. Inside, the rooms are filled with benches and blackboards. We spend our hours teaching the subjects and trying to keep the noise down when it gets too loud. The road outside can get a bit muddy when it rains heavily, which makes it a mess for everyone arriving. We have a small staff room where we sit and drink tea when there is a gap between classes. It is not a quiet place, especially when the afternoon bell goes off and everyone rushes out at once. We handle the daily stuff like attendance and registers without making a big fuss about it. Gmam Inter College is just a place for the local kids to get their schooling done without having to travel too far away. We keep the doors open and the fans running as much as the electricity allows. It feels like a second home for many of us because we spend so much of our lives within these four walls. Sometimes the monkeys from the nearby trees come onto the roof and make a lot of noise, which makes everyone laugh.
