S S Inter College

S S Inter College is situated in Ishwar Gangi, over in Varanasi. It’s an old part of an old city, and the school building reflects that. The walls are thick, and the corridors have that specific smell of old paper and stone. Being an inter college, we have the older students who are preparing for their final school years. Varanasi is a place where every lane has its own story, and Ishwar Gangi is no different. The school sits among houses and small shops, and the students come from all around the 221001 area. We have high ceilings in the classrooms which helps a bit with the Uttar Pradesh heat in the summer. The furniture is mostly wooden and has some scratches here and there from years of use. Teachers walk in with their bundles of answer sheets and chalk boxes. It’s a busy atmosphere but in a very traditional way. There’s a lot of focus on the lectures and making sure the students are prepared for their board exams. We don't have the latest gadgets or anything, just the standard labs and a library with stacks of reference books. The bell is a manual one that someone hits with a hammer, and that sound marks our day from start to finish. It’s a place where work gets done and everyone knows their place in the daily routine.
