Baba A Barbar

You can find Baba A Barbar at Jagarnath Katra Rathayatra, right on Kamaccha Road in the Kamachha area of Varanasi. We are very close to the Hanuman Mandir, so you can usually hear the temple bells from inside the shop. It is a very old-fashioned kind of barber shop. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of big ceiling fans that hum all day. The shop is small and the walls are covered with a few old mirrors that have some spots on them. We have been cutting hair and doing shaves here for a long time. People from the temple often stop by, and we get a lot of regulars who have been coming since they were boys. The chairs are old but comfortable enough. We don't have any fancy gels or expensive sprays. We just use water, a bit of cream, and our razors. The street outside is always full of cows, bikes, and people, which is just how Varanasi is. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to finish a shave using the light from the doorway. We don't have a website or anything like that. If you want a haircut, you just show up and see if there is a spot on the bench. We chat about the local gossip or the cricket scores while we work. It is a simple life and a simple shop for anyone needing a quick trim without the fuss.
