Over at Plot No. 248/4 in the GIDC, you will find Fine Industries. Despite the name, the work we do isn't always that delicate. It’s mostly manual labor and machine operating in a space that feels a bit too small when we have a big shipment ready to go. We’ve managed to cram a lot into this plot, and every square inch is used for something, whether it’s raw materials or finished parts waiting for pickup. The ceiling is high, which helps a little with the heat in the summer, but it still gets stuffy inside during the afternoons. We have a small crew, and everyone knows what they’re supposed to be doing without much talking needed. The noise of the machinery is the main thing you notice when you walk in. We don't have any polished floors or air-conditioned offices. There is just a small wooden desk where we handle the bills and talk to the occasional visitor. Most of our days are spent checking measurements and making sure the machines are fed. It’s a lot of repetitive movement, but it’s what we know. We get our tea from the guy who circles the estate on a bicycle, and that’s usually the highlight of the morning. We just keep things moving at Plot 248/4, day after day, without much fuss. There is usually a lot of clanging sounds coming from our shed and the neighbors.
