Atul Ltd. is based out in the Valsad district of Gujarat. It’s a large site, and if you live around here, you likely know someone who works on the premises. It isn't like an office in the city where everything is cramped. Here, we have more space, but it’s an industrial atmosphere through and through. The weather in Valsad can be quite damp during the monsoon, and you really feel it when you’re walking between the different sections of the plant. We focus on chemicals, so there’s always that faint industrial scent in the air that you just get used to after a week. Most of us commute from nearby towns, and the daily talk is usually about the shift timings or what’s happening in the local area. The company has been part of the landscape for a long time. It feels less like a corporate office and more like a small village of its own because of how many people are involved. We have a canteen where everyone gathers, and that’s where you hear the real news of the day. The work is steady and involves a lot of monitoring and checking equipment. We don’t really do fancy presentations. It’s mostly about making sure the production lines are running like they should. Working in a district like Valsad means you’re a bit away from the main city buzz, which is fine by us. It’s just honest, hard work every day.
