You will find us over at Plot No. C-1-b, taking up Shed No. 48, 49, and 50 in the Lic Sector of GIDC, Vapi. It’s a big area, and having three sheds helps us keep the different stages of the dye process separate. Vapi is known for being an industrial hub, and it certainly feels like it when you’re here. There is always a truck idling nearby or someone shouting over the noise of a machine. The sheds are a bit old, and the roofs have been patched more times than I can count. We deal with dyes and chemicals, so the floor is pretty much a permanent rainbow of stains. It is a hot, sweaty job, especially during the summer months when the air just sits still. We don't have any fancy mission statements or corporate values posted on the walls. We just have a calendar and a list of what needs to get out the door. The guys usually take their lunch under the shade of the tree near the entrance because it’s the coolest spot we’ve got. We’ve been here in Gujarat for a long time, and we’ve seen a lot of businesses come and go. We just stay focused on our own work, making sure the colors are right and the bags are packed. It’s a lot of manual labor and not much glory, but it’s our living at sheds 48, 49, and 50.
