Durga Dye Chem

The workshop is located at Plot No. 637 in the 100 Shed Area of Gidc, Vapi. It is a busy part of the industrial estate and there is always something moving around in the streets. We deal with dyes and chemicals all day long, so there is always a very particular smell in the air around the shed. It is not exactly a bad smell, just the heavy smell of a long day of work. Most of the guys here have been with us for a long time and they know the routine of mixing and moving the heavy barrels around the floor. The concrete floor in the shed is stained with all different colors from over the years, which tells you just how much work has passed through this building. We do not really have a fancy office space; the main desk is right there in the corner so we can see what is happening on the floor at all times. Vapi gets really humid in the summer, so the overhead fans are always going, though they mostly just move the warm air around. The delivery trucks have a hard time backing into the plot sometimes because the road is narrow and people park their scooters everywhere. We spend a lot of time checking the batches and making sure things are moving along as they should. It is a lot of manual labor and staying on your feet for hours. We do not bother much with making the place look pretty for visitors because we are focused on the processing. It is an honest way to make a living and the 100 Shed Area feels like home to us now.
