About Ifsma - Firefighting College – Education in Vadodara
Out here in Amodar Village, things are usually pretty quiet until the sirens go off for our morning practice. We run the Ifsma Fire Safety College and it is definitely a hands-on kind of place for everyone involved. You will not find people sitting around in suits here; it is mostly boots, heavy jackets, and helmets. We teach folks how to handle fires and how to stay safe when things get dangerous or unpredictable. The college grounds have plenty of space for all the drills and training exercises we need to do. We have been training people for a long time now and it feels like a solid routine. It is important work, even if it leaves us exhausted at the end of the day. We spend a lot of time outside in the heat. Students come from all over to learn the ropes of firefighting. We show them how to use the equipment and exactly what to do when an emergency pops up. It is not just about reading books in a classroom. Most of the real learning happens while actually doing the drills in the yard. We keep things simple and direct because that is what works best in a real fire situation. The village is a good spot for us since we need the extra room to move around. We started this because there was a clear need for real training. Every day is a bit different depending on the weather.
