Umiya Steel Company

We operate out of Plot No A1/321/21 in the 40 Shead Area of GIDC. It’s a bit of a maze back here, especially when you’re trying to find the V-Trans building. Most people just look for the canteen across the way, that’s usually the easiest landmark to give out. Umiya Steel Company isn't a place with a shiny front office. It's mostly concrete floors, heavy stacks of steel, and the sound of loaders moving things around. The air stays pretty thick with the smell of metal and grease, which is just part of the job when you’re in this part of the estate. We start early when it’s still a bit cool because by noon the heat inside the shed can get pretty rough. It’s just honest work, moving material from one side to the other and making sure the counts are right. We deal with a lot of different people coming through, mostly drivers and other local workers grabbing a quick lunch at the canteen before heading back to their own spots. There isn't much to say about the decor because we don't have any. We just have our tools, our registers, and the steel. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit around for a bit until it comes back on. It’s just how things go in GIDC. We’ve been in this location for a while and it suits the kind of work we do every day.
