Working at Plot No. 862-7-a in the GIDC Ind. Estate means living with a lot of noise. The sound of the presses hitting metal is something you never really get used to, but you learn to work around it. We make various tools and metal parts that require a lot of force to shape. The machines are big and take up most of the floor space. You have to be careful where you walk because there are always bins of offcuts and finished pieces sitting around. We don't have an office staff; we usually just answer the phone ourselves while wiping oil off our hands. It's a rough environment, filled with the smell of lubricants and the heat from the metalwork. We’ve been at this plot for quite some time now. The roof leaks a little when it rains hard, so we have to move the equipment around to keep it dry. It’s just the reality of being in an old industrial building. We don't spend money on fancy brochures or websites. People know us at Press Metal Tools because they see us here every day. We start early and end late, depending on how many orders are sitting on the desk. It’s just us and the heavy machinery, trying to keep everything running smooth without any fuss. It’s hard work, but it is what we do. We just keep at it until the jobs are done.
