Steel India

Steel India is located at No. 899/4 in the G.I.D.C. area of Makarpura. We are pretty easy to find because we are near the Purohit Hotel, which is a big landmark around here. G.I.D.C. is a huge industrial estate, and it can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. There are always trucks loading and unloading, and the noise never really stops. We’ve been at this Makarpura location for several years. Our space is mostly taken up by steel stock. It’s not the cleanest environment, but that’s the nature of the steel business. Everything is heavy and leaves a bit of a mess. We have a small office where we handle the billing and the phone calls. It’s a very basic setup. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or slogans. We just sell steel. When people come in, they usually know exactly what they want, and we just see if it’s in the yard. If we have it, we load it up. The weather can make things tough sometimes, especially during the monsoon when the yard gets muddy. But we just keep going. It’s a lot of physical labor, and we aren't trying to pretend it’s anything else. Most of the people working here live nearby, so it’s a local operation. We just focus on the orders we have and try to get through the day.
