Shree Sponge Steel & Forging Limited

We are out here in the G.I.D.C. Estate at Ramangamdi. If you're driving on National Highway 8, you'll find us near Por. It's a dusty place sometimes, being an industrial area. Shree Sponge Steel & Forging is what's on the gate. We have the machines running most of the time. Forging is loud work, you get used to the rhythm of it. The heat from the furnaces is something else in the summer. We’ve been at this spot, 6/1, for quite a while. Most of the guys here have been with us for years. We make steel parts. It’s not a clean job. Your hands get dirty by ten in the morning. We don't do much fancy talking here. We just look at the specs and get to work. The trucks come in and out all day. Sometimes the power goes out and we just wait it out. It's just how the estate is. We keep our tools ready and our heads down. It’s a lot of manual work and checking the thickness and weight of the sponge steel. We don’t have a big corporate office with carpets. Just a small room with a desk and some old files where we handle the billing and talk to drivers. It’s a simple setup but it works for us and has for a long time. We just keep the hammers going and do what we can.
