Santosh Steel & Engineering Company

Over at the Santosh Complex in Vadodara, that is where you will find our steel and engineering setup. It is a bit of a maze in the complex if you haven't been here before, but we are one of the older units. We handle a lot of metal, so there is always the sound of cutting or grinding going on in the background. My clothes usually smell like iron by the time I head home. It is hard work, but it is what we know. We do not have a flashy showroom. People just come to the workshop area when they need something made or fixed. We have got some old machines that have been running since my uncle started the place. They are loud, but they never break down. We mostly do work for local builders and other small businesses around the area. Sometimes we get bigger orders, and then everyone has to work late into the evening. We do not really have a set routine, we just take the work as it comes in. The floor is always covered in metal shavings, even though we try to sweep up twice a day. It is just part of the job. Most of our day is spent measuring things and making sure the cuts are right. It is not glamorous at all, but it pays the bills and keeps us busy. We like being part of the Vadodara industrial scene, even if we are just a small part of it.
