Premji Amba

We have been here in Vadodara for a good while now under the name Premji Amba. It’s just how things go around here. Some days it is very quiet and we just sit and wait for someone to walk through the door, and other days it feels like everyone in the city decided to stop by at once. We don't really do anything fancy. The shop stays open from the morning until it gets dark, and we mostly just handle what comes our way. The shelves are full of things that people usually need, nothing more and nothing less. Sometimes the fan makes a weird clicking noise but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We know most of the people who come in because they live right around the corner or work nearby. It’s nice to see the same faces. You get to know what someone wants before they even say it. Running a place like this in Vadodara means you see a lot of changes in the streets, but inside here, things stay pretty much the same. We keep the floor swept and make sure things are where they belong. It is not a big operation, just a few of us making sure things keep moving along. If you walk past, you’ll see us there, probably sorting through some new stock or just talking to a neighbor who stopped by to chat about the weather.
