Pooja Flour Mill

Waghodia Road is always busy, and our mill is right there near Bapod Jakat Naka. Pooja Flour Mill is tucked into the Maji Nagar area, which means we get a lot of people from Kendranagar coming by too. It’s a pretty basic setup. We have the usual machines for grinding wheat and bajra. The noise is something else when everything is running at once. My hands are usually covered in white powder by ten in the morning. I don't really mind the work. It’s steady. People bring their bags on scooters or walk over from the nearby houses. We try to keep the place tidy, but when you’re dealing with flour, it’s a losing battle. There’s always a thin layer of it on the counters and the scales. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us doing the heavy lifting and making sure the bags don't get mixed up. The location is good because it’s easy to find, even if the traffic near the Jakat Naka can be a mess sometimes in the evenings. We just keep the shutters open and wait for the next person to bring their grain. It’s not a complicated business. You just have to make sure the machine is set right for whatever they bring in. Some people want it real fine, others want it a bit coarse for different breads. We just do what they ask and keep moving until it is time to close up.
