Piping Draughtsman

We work out of Rai Flats in Vadodara. It’s unit 302 in the 10th Uthkant Society. It’s a quiet area near the Alkapuri Club. If you know the Sardar Bagh area, you know where we are. We go by Piping Draughtsman. It’s basically what we do—we draw up plans for pipes. It’s technical work. We spend hours looking at blueprints and technical drawings. It’s not for everyone, but we enjoy the details. Shashikant Patange is the main person here. The office is just a regular flat that we’ve set up with drafting tables and computers. It feels like a home because it mostly is. We have a small balcony where we take breaks. Gujarat can get very hot, so we keep the curtains drawn during the day. We aren't a big engineering firm. We are just a few guys who know how to draw pipes correctly. We’ve been in Alkapuri for a long time. It’s a nice part of Vadodara. We don't have any flashy signs. Our clients usually know us for a long time. They just send over the specs and we get to work. We don't make a big fuss about things. We just want to make sure the drawings are right so the builders don't have any trouble later. That’s the main thing we care about. We also have a lot of books on engineering lying around that we use for reference all the time.
