Parmar Ramesh Fakir

You can find us at the 25th Cross in Padra, near Yediyur. I’m Parmar Ramesh Fakir, and this is my small corner of the world. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but it’s a nice area once you get here. The shop is nothing special to look at, just a door and a window with some old curtains. I’ve been here so long I don’t even notice the cracks in the floor anymore. My day starts with a cup of tea and a look at the mail. There isn't a lot of foot traffic on this specific crossroad, which suits me fine. It means the people who do come here are actually looking for me. We don’t have a big sign with lights or anything. Just the name on a board outside. It’s a bit faded now from the sun and the rain. I do most of the work myself, though sometimes my nephew comes by to help with the heavy lifting or to run errands. We don’t have any fancy brochures or big promises to make to anyone. We just take things one day at a time and try to stay on top of the work. The neighborhood has changed a lot over the years, with new buildings going up everywhere, but we’re still here in the same spot. It’s a bit dusty and the roof leaks a tiny bit when it rains hard, but it’s home. I usually sit out front for a bit before closing up.
