Shreeji Febricators

You will find Shreeji Febricators over at Plot No. 196-197-h in the GIDC Industrial Estate. It’s a large space because we need room for all the metal and the welding equipment. Fabrication is loud work. There is always the sound of grinding or the flash of a welding torch going on somewhere in the shop. We wear our heavy boots and gear even when it is boiling hot outside because that is the only way to stay safe. The floor is usually covered in scrap metal bits and cooling water. We take on all sorts of jobs, from small frames to bigger structures that take weeks to finish. Sometimes the blueprints we get are a bit messy, so we have to sit down and scratch our heads for a bit before we start cutting. We have a few old machines that we’ve fixed up ourselves many times over the years. They still work better than some of the newer stuff. Lunch is usually eaten together in the corner where it’s a bit quieter. We talk about the work or whatever is happening in the news. It’s hard work on the hands and the back, but there is something about finishing a big piece of metalwork that feels right. We don't do much talking; we just get the tools out and start working until it is time to lock up.
