Metalic Industries

Metalic Industries is located at Plot No 855-1-c in the GIDC Industrial Estate in Makarpura, Vadodara. It’s one of those long addresses that’s hard to remember, but we’ve been here at 390010 for quite some time. The workshop is always full of metal scraps and the sound of grinding. We do a lot of fabrication and custom bits for other businesses in the area. It’s a dusty job, and the floor is never really clean no matter how much we sweep. We have a small team of workers who have lived in Vadodara their whole lives. We usually start the day with a quick talk about what needs to get finished by evening. There’s a lot of heavy lifting involved. Our office is tucked in a corner with a view of the main floor so we can see what’s going on. We don’t have any fancy reception area or a coffee machine. If someone comes by, we usually just pull up a stool for them. The summers in Makarpura are brutal, so we drink a lot of water and try to stay in the shade of the roof. The commute through town can be a pain with all the construction, but once you get inside the GIDC, it feels like a different world. We have a small radio that plays local stations in the background, though you can’t hear it much when the saws are running. We just keep our heads down and work on the orders as they come in.
