Laxmi Machines

You can find us at 303/9 in the Makarpura GIDC Estate. Laxmi Machines has been a fixture here for quite some time. The workshop is usually a bit of a mess with metal shavings on the floor and tools scattered across the workbenches, but that’s how we like it. It means we are actually busy making things. We focus on machinery, which involves a lot of cutting, grinding, and welding. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, and by the end of the day, most of us have grease under our fingernails and a bit of soot on our shirts. Makarpura is a great place to be because everything you need is right here—if we need a specific bolt or a piece of plate, there’s someone nearby who has it. We don’t have a fancy showroom or a website with lots of photos. If people want to see what we do, they usually just walk into the shop and look at what’s on the lathes. We talk to our customers face-to-face and work out what they need without a lot of fuss. Some days the heat in the shed is almost too much, but we take a break, have some tea, and then get back to it. We take pride in the fact that our machines actually work and last a long time, even if we don’t talk about it in a boastful way.
