We’ve been here at Shed No C1/224/224P in the Gidc Estate for a good while now. It is a noisy place, mostly because of the cutting and welding going on from morning until evening. You’ll find the floor usually covered in metal shavings and offcuts from different jobs. We spend most of our days working with steel and iron, making whatever the orders call for. It gets pretty hot inside the shed, especially during the summer months, but we are used to it by now. The tea guy comes around twice a day and that’s when we actually take a breather. Most of the guys here have been with us for years, so we all know how the machines handle. There isn't much to look at in the office, just a few old desks and some stacks of paper. We just focus on getting the fabrication work finished so it can get loaded onto the trucks. Sometimes things get delayed when a machine breaks down, but we fix it and keep moving. It is just a normal workshop where we get our hands dirty every day. The neighbors in the Gidc know us as the place that’s always busy with sparks flying. We don’t do anything fancy, just the regular metal work people need around here. It’s a lot of physical labor and keeping track of the measurements. We just keep our heads down and work until the sun goes down.
