Halal Traders

Halal Traders is out here in Palej, situated in the Jamadar Complex along Simaliya Road. We are right beside the High Cross Shopping area, so there is usually a fair amount of movement outside throughout the day. Palej is a smaller place compared to the big cities, and life moves at its own pace here in Bharuch. Our shop is pretty straightforward. We have shelves lined with whatever we are trading at the moment and a small desk where we handle the paperwork. It gets quite dusty on Simaliya Road, so we spend a good chunk of our morning just wiping things down before the first person walks in. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that; it’s just a few of us making sure the orders are right and the stock is where it needs to be. The High Cross area gets busy in the evenings with people doing their shopping, but our day is mostly about managing the logistics of our trade. The Jamadar Complex is an older building, and it has that specific character you find in this part of Gujarat. We’ve got a small fan that works overtime in the summer months to keep the heat away. It’s a simple business run by people who have lived here for a long time. We aren’t doing anything revolutionary, just sticking to the basics of buying and selling and keeping the records straight in our ledgers. It can be long hours, but we are used to it by now.
